Safety Tips

Meeting new people can be both rewarding and exciting. However, it is your responsibility to exercise judgment and caution in your actions, whether during online interactions or in-person meetings.

Online

  1. Do not share personal information with another member before getting to know them better. For example, do not disclose your home address, your children's names, their school names, the places you regularly visit, or any other details that could make it easy to find you outside of the location where you are simultaneously present with another member. It's best to take your time to verify the accuracy of the information shared before disclosing personal details.

  2. Never share your banking information and do not accept requests for money.

  3. Report any inappropriate, suspicious behavior or any account suspected of being fake or containing false information. Examples of valid reasons to report include:

    • Accounts belonging to minors

    • Aggressive or disrespectful messages

    • Inappropriate behavior during an in-person meeting

    • Fake profiles and fraudulent accounts

    • Requests for money

    • Solicitation for the sale or purchase of products or services

In-Person

These safety tips apply when using our services via the First Sight app, but they are also useful in general life situations.

  1. Make initial contact in person in a public place where you are already present with another member. This allows you to get a first impression and verify the authenticity of the member's profile.

  2. When meeting another member in a public location, always remain in a visible area. Never arrange to meet in an outdoor or indoor parking lot, a restroom, or any isolated area. Stay in places where you are in plain sight of others.

  3. When leaving a location where you were publicly present—whether heading home or to another place—walk in well-lit, safe areas or with a companion.

  4. If you choose not to meet another member when you were already present in the same public place and instead arrange a later meeting, always do so in a public location rather than a private residence.

  5. For first meetings with someone you have recently met, consider informing a friend about the meeting location and arranging for them to call you to check in.

  6. Avoid consuming substances during first meetings. Stay alert and set your boundaries if needed.

  7. It can sometimes be difficult to say no, but always remember that you have the right to leave a meeting if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

  8. Do not rely on the person you are meeting for transportation to or from your first meetings.
